Frequently Asked Questions
Snake River Academy is a family eduational co-op program serving families in the Magic Valley area. We provide enriching classes for parents and children ages 3-18 in a collaborative environment where parents teach and assist in classes.
We meet once a week on Thursdays from 8:45am to 12:00pm for 12 weeks per semester. We have a fall semester beginning in September and a spring semester beginning in February.
There is a Family Fee of $100 due each semester - this is per family, NOT per child. Additionally, class fees are due on the first day of class. Each parent determines the fee for their own class based on the supplies needed. Class fees typically range from FREE to $50.
Many families use funds from their online charter school to pay for these fees.
Classes vary each semester as they are taught by the parents. Each parent chooses what topic they want to teach and which age group they want to teach it to. We've had many different classes including:
- Science
- Art
- Writing
- Survival and cooking
- History
- PE, dance, and theater
- Literature and math
- Leadership and coding
- Sewing
- Agriculture
- And any subjects you want to teach!
We require a mom or dad to lead at least one class and assist in at least one class per semester. We are not a drop-off school - parent involvement is essential to our program. This cooperative approach allows us to offer a wide variety of classes while keeping costs low.
Yes! We hold opening and closing socials each semester, organize and participate in monthly service projects for the community, and hold holiday parties. We also offer summer activities for teens 12 and older.
